Project Feature: Exploration Camp
The Macmillan Pass project, located in the traditional territories of the Kaska Dena and the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation, is one of the world's largest undeveloped zinc sites. Solvest Inc., in collaboration with Dena Nezziddi Development Corporation (DNDC) and Fireweed Metals Corp, has implemented a renewable energy solution to power the Macpass camp.
This initiative includes a 70 kW solar array and a 144 kWh battery storage system, owned and leased by DNDC's Tu-Lidlini Petroleum LP (TLP) to Fireweed, the camp operator. The project will drastically reduce diesel fuel use by about 24,000 liters per season, cutting carbon emissions by an estimated 80% and decreasing noise from diesel generators.
The renewable energy project supports economic growth for DNDC, offering training and jobs for Ross River Dena members, while aligning with Fireweed's commitment to sustainable exploration. Funded partly by the Government of Yukon and Canada's Northern REACHE program, this landmark project demonstrates Solvest's expertise in delivering renewable solutions that enhance environmental stewardship and community engagement in northern Canada
