Sales Manager

Permanent, Full-Time

Solvest is seeking a self-directed and experienced Sales Manager to oversee our dynamic Sales team! This position is
responsible for the development and execution of the company’s sales process to maximize lead conversion, meet or
exceed margin targets and maintain profitability targets.

Job Description:

The chosen applicant will be trained and expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Support the Director of Sales & Marketing (DSM) in developing and optimizing the company sales processes.
  • Ensure the sales process is being systematized and documented.
  • Supporting the DSM and Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) in setting pricing and margin guidance for
    company-wide sales.
  • Provide support for the implementation of sales processes in new geographical markets, or market segments.
  • Identify new opportunities for Solvest to upsell clients and work with the DSM to analyze those new products or services.
  • Responsible for ensuring the sales teams meet the targets specified by the DSM.
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to the sales team through weekly meetings.
  • Ensure proper reporting and information aggregation throughout the sales team to allow for information sharing with the DSM and CBDO.
  • Reviewing pricing, margins, designs, and SLDs prepared by Solar Consultants to ensure accuracy.
  • Answer design and pricing questions from the Sales team.
  • Conduct employee development meetings (EDMs) with the Sales Team to discuss their goals, performance issues, and resolve problems they are experiencing.
  • Conduct Interviews with new Sales Team candidates along with the DSM and Human Resources (HR).
  • Train, develop, and mentor new Solar Consultants and Assessors/Summer Students.
  • Develop proposals and sales pitches for large clients in existing market segments and/or new market segments.
  • Create/Review reports to ensure estimates and margin projections are accurate.
  • Analyze sales data with a focus on projected vs. actual costs. Communicate this data with the DSM to enable revisions of company pricing and improved profitability for all market segments.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration
  • 3+ years of sales and management experience
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaboration
  • Highly motivated, independent self-starter with strong business acumen
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-resolution skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency with various computer platforms including Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PDF, Google Suite (Google Drive, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets), familiarity in CRMs and PM softwares are preferred but not required. Familiarity in design softwares such as Aurora Solar, RETScreen, HelioScope are preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry is an asset

Wage Range:

$33 - $41 per hour (based on experience) + annual bonus based on company/individual performance

Bookkeeper

Permanent, Full-Time

As a valued member of the Finance team, the Bookkeeper is responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll.


Our ideal candidate will have accounting experience, strong organizational skills, and an ability to be extremely detail oriented. The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work with an innovative management team that encourages professional growth and development!


This is an office-based position that will require the successful candidate to work from our head office located in Whitehorse, Yukon and allows for temporary mobile work as well.

Job Description:

The chosen applicant will be trained and expected to perform the following tasks:
  • Identify potential improvements to the company financial record-keeping or cash flow tracking processes and discuss them with the financial controller.
  • Identify potential job funding sources that can supplement employee payroll, liaise with the funders to determine employee eligibility, and submit applications, supporting documents, and final reports.
  • Identify potential utilization of Rise (HR system) and Acumatica (ERP system) to streamline the company accounting operations and financial reporting and discuss them with the financial controller or senior management team.
  • Support and oversee the part-time bookkeeper’s work, delegating tasks as required, and leading month-end close.
  • Collaborate with each department in the company to provide financial support to employees of all levels.
  • Manage the company’s compliance and government remittances (GST, WCB & payroll remittances).
Accounting
      • Manage full cycle of bookkeeping, the duties include but not limited to:
              • AP processing and reconciliation
              • AR processing and collection
              • Bank account/visa account managing and reconciliation
              • GST, WCB filing and Payroll remittances
              • Post month-end adjustment journal entries and GL reconciliation
              • Bi-weekly payroll processing
              • Intercompany transaction reconciliation
              • Employee Reimbursements

Administrative duties

      • Organize accounting files
      • Manage emails, vendors/clients correspondence
      • Work with HR and relevant employees on funding applications, claims and final submissions
      • Download Manulife bills, Bell bills, etc.
      • Statistics Canada Surveys related to Finance
      • Budget Tracker, working with managers to incorporate their budgets into the tracker

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Accounting diploma/certificate required
  • 2 – 3 years’ accounting experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with various computer platforms including Microsoft 365, Google Suite and QuickBooks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector is an asset

Wage:

$30 - $36 per hour (based on experience) + performance shared annual bonus
