
Project Feature: Mt. Sima Ski Hill
In 2020, Mount Sima and the Yukon Government announced that the local ski hill would be veering away from diesel power and moving onto the grid. This investment would cut greenhouse gas emissions by a whopping 90%, with typical production of 140 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually; the result of consuming 110,000 liters of diesel.
In 2021, As part of Mount Sima’s energy upgrades, Solvest installed two solar systems; one on the chalet and one on the shop. These impressive systems of an aggregate 43.25kW have allowed Yukoners to ski all winter and mountain bike throughout the summers in a much more environmentally friendly way. The two systems are expected to produce an aggregate 39,603 kW annually.
