Macpass, located in the Yukon near the NWT border, is one of the world's largest undeveloped zinc projects. It is a seasonal camp, operating fully on diesel that is flown or trucked to site once the seasonal ferry is operating. The renewable power system is expected to offset 85% of the camp power diesel, reducing CO2 emissions by 65 tonnes per year and providing a quiet camp for much of the season when the diesel generator is not required. Dena Nezziddi Development Corporation, representing the Ross River Dena Council, purchased the equipment and entered into a lease agreement with Fireweed for use of the equipment. The project received partial funding from the federal and Yukon governments with Solvest co-investing for the remaining 20%.

  • Location: Macpass Zinc Project, Yukon

  • System Size: 53 kW DC Solar + 150 kWh Battery
